Confirmed speakers for the 2021 Small Fleet & Owner Operator Summit include owner operator Larry Cothran, who will share his tips on how to make a successful transition from company driver to owner operator with Trucker Tools’ VP of Partnerships & Strategic Alliance Matt Silver. Cothran also will discuss some of the challenges owner operators and small fleets currently are facing, and his mentorship work with drivers who are new to the industry.
OOIDA Vice President Lewie Pugh is scheduled to speak at the summit as part of a fireside chat, while compliance specialist Chelsea Pieczko of Decker Truckline and TVC Pro-Driver’s Chief Sales Officer Nick Hillesheim will be featured speakers at the event. Other speakers include Wayne Cragg and Josue Ramos, who will discuss “What I Wish I Knew Before Becoming an Owner Operator.” A representative from Schneider will talk about women in trucking and a session with Ryder will center on the pros and cons of leasing versus buying your truck. Per-load cargo insurer Loadsure also will be a presenter at the summit.

Dave Nemo, host of SiriusXM’s Road Dog Trucking Radio, will be live broadcasting “The Dave Nemo Show” as part of the Small Fleet & Owner Operator Summit. The topic of the show will be “Finding Your Niche.” FreightWaves’ true-crime podcast, Long-Haul Crime Log, will be broadcast from the event, as well, and will feature an interview with attorney Susan Ross from Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp LLP, a law firm that specializes in international trade, regulatory and labor law. FreightWaves also will interview a member of the leadership team from Forward Air as part of its Fuller Speed Ahead interview series.
