Truckers are the backbone of the American trucking, an industry that generated $800 billion in revenue in the U.S. economy in 2018. They haul approximately 10.5 billion tons of freight each year and move 70 percent of all goods that are transported within the United States. Each year, a trucker drives about 125,000 miles and spends an average of more than 240 nights away from home. All across the country, we depend on the daily work that truckers do and the sacrifices they make. Truckers ensure that there’s food on the shelves at the grocery store, that people get the medicines they need and that businesses continue to thrive.
At Trucker Tools, we focus on creating solutions that help small carrier companies and owner-operators run their businesses more efficiently and more profitably. We recognize that when truckers are given access to cutting edge technology like our mobile driver app in their day-to-day operations, they are empowered to use that technology to improve their daily efficiency and grow their revenue, while also strengthening the supply chain. Helping truckers succeed benefits the entire transportation industry Trucker Tools maintains ongoing relationships with truckers and carriers across the country so that we can be aware of and understand the challenges truckers face in today’s transportation industry. In fact, many of the 16 features and tools in Trucker Tools’ driver app were developed and launched in response to the feedback we’ve gotten from truckers during our customer advisory board (CAB) meetings, which are held several times throughout the year.
One of these tools that we’ve recently developed based on feedback from truckers is Detention Alerts. Launched earlier this year, Detention Alerts help carriers and brokers/3PLs track detention time. Using the GPS-enabled location time-stamps of Trucker Tools’ driver app, Detention Alerts notifies carrier dispatchers and brokers when a trucker has been sitting at a shipper’s dock or receiver’s dock for more than two hours. These alerts encourage dispatchers and brokers to be more proactive in resolving delays, which increases efficiency for owner-operators and carriers. Detention Alerts also make tracking detention time and calculating detention pay easier for truckers.
Another powerful, trucker-centric feature included in the Trucker Tools driver app is load matching. When you tap on Find Loads in the driver app, you can view available nearby loads, with the best matches listed first. You can create a list of preferred carriers and filter load matching results according to your specific needs. You may view information about the loads, including potential deadhead miles, and submit a quote instantaneously through the app in a matter of seconds. Truckers and carriers can also book loads directly in the app with Trucker Tools’ newly released Book It Now tool, included for free in the driver app.
In appreciation for all that truckers do, Trucker Tools is holding a Truckers Appreciation
