Happy Friday and welcome to your Friday edition of Trucker Tools’ “Where’s the Freight?,” a three-times-a-week market report that tells you where demand/rates will be highest and lowest in the coming week. In today’s “Where’s the Freight?,” one reefer market north of the border claims the top spot in our projected Top Five Hottest Markets list, while two Midwestern markets are expected to see increased demand for reefer over the next five to seven days. In power only news, San Diego is expected to remain a high-demand market this week. Demand for flatbed is projected to be extremely low in the coming week for one port on the Northern Atlantic coast and one region in the Pacific Northwest.

For more insights into where demand for capacity will be high, low, rising and falling in the coming week, scroll on down to read the rest of today’s issue of “Where’s the Freight?”

Best Markets for Owner Operators, Carriers

  • Rapid City, S.D., and Southwestern Ontario are projected to be the highest demand/highest rate flatbed markets in North America this week.
  • The top reefer markets this week will be Edmonton, Alberta, and Texarkana, Texas. Demand for reefer capacity is likely to increase over the next week to/from Dodge City, Kan., and Jonesboro, Ark.
  • San Diego will be the highest demand/highest rate power only market in North America over the next five to seven days. You also can expect demand for power only to rise this week to/from El Paso, Texas, Jonesboro, Ark., and Savannah, Ga.

Worst Markets for Owner Operators, Carriers

  • You can expect demand for flatbed capacity to be extremely low over the next five to seven days for Yakima, Wash., and Portland, Maine. Demand for flatbed is projected to decline this week inbound to and outbound from Gary, Ind., and Flagstaff, Ariz.
  • Charleston, W.Va., and Hartford, Conn., will be the least profitable reefer markets in North America in the coming week.
  • You may want to avoid taking power only loads into Jackson, Miss., over the next week, as it will be the lowest-demand power only market in the country. Demand for power only will decrease over the next week to/from Albuquerque, N.M., and Brooklyn, N.Y.
  • Demand for dry van capacity inbound to and outbound from Huntington, W.Va., is expected to go down over the next five to seven days.
