Where’s the Freight? Macon, South Bend, Winnipeg, Rapid City and Southwestern Ontario Projected To Be High Demand Markets for Truckers/Carriers This Week

In this Wednesday edition of Trucker Tools’ “Where’s the Freight?” Winnipeg, Manitoba, is projected to be the most favorable reefer market for truckers and carriers over the next five to seven days. If you’re a regular reader of “Where’s the Freight?” this is notable because it’s the first time in nearly four months that the top reefer market in North American is a city that isn’t Tucson, Ariz. In this edition of “Where’s the Freight?” you’ll also see that three of the five hottest markets in North American in the coming week are expected to be flatbed markets, reflecting sustained high demand for flatbed capacity. Keep reading to find out where else demand for trucks will be high and low in the coming week!

Where Demand/Rates Are Projected To Be High, Increasing 

  • Southwestern Ontario (Canada), Rapid City, S.D., and South Bend, Ind., will be the top flatbed markets for truckers/carriers over the coming week. Demand for flatbed is expected to rise this week for Fayetteville, Ark.
  • Winnipeg, Manitoba (Canada), will be the most favorable reefer market for truckers/carriers over the next week. Expect demand for reefer capacity to increase this week for Tucson, Ariz.
  • Expect Macon, Ga., to be the most profitable power only market in the nation this week. You can expect demand for power only capacity to increase over the next five to seven day period for El Paso, Texas, Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Little Rock, Ark.

Where Demand/Rates Are Projected To Be Low, Decreasing 

  • Edmonton, Alberta (Canada), and Vancouver, British Columbia (Canada), will be the two coldest flatbed markets in North America over the next week.
  • Hartford, Conn., and Billings, Mont., will be the coldest reefer markets in the country this week. 
  • Demand for power only capacity in and out of Houston is expected to decrease in the next five to seven days. 
  • Demand/rates for dry van will be low in the coming week for Huntington, W.Va.

Trucker Tools’ Market Insights

  • According to the latest Trucker Tools data, the top five freight markets for truckers/carriers this week will be: 1. Southwestern Ontario (flatbed), 2. Rapid City, S.D. (flatbed), 3. South Bend, Ind. (flatbed), 4. Winnipeg, Manitoba (reefer), and 5. Macon, Ga. (power only).
  • The bottom five freight markets for truckers/this week will be: 1. Edmonton, Alberta (flatbed), 2. Hartford, Conn. (reefer), 3. Vancouver, British Columbia (flatbed) 4. Billings, Mont. (reefer), and 5. Huntington, W.Va. (dry van).
  • For the first time in nearly four months, Tucson, Ariz., has fallen out of the top five markets for truckers/carriers list. Up until today, Tucson, Ariz., had been the hottest reefer market in North America for truckers and carriers for 16 weeks in a row.
  • Winnipeg, Manitoba (Canada), projected to be the best reefer market for truckers and carriers this week, is a major Canadian transportation hub. 
  • Demand for power only capacity in and out of Macon, Ga., is five times higher than it was at this time last year.
  • Manufacturing, aerospace and agriculture are the top industries for Macon, Ga., which is projected to be the hottest power only market in the coming week.
  • Demand for flatbed in and out of South Bend, Ind., currently is three times higher than it was at the same time last year.
