Where’s the Freight? Texarkana, Winnipeg, Spokane, Macon and Tucson To See High Demand for Truck Capacity in Coming Week

Share it:

Happy Friday, truckers! Welcome to your end-of-week edition of “Where’s the Freight?,” Trucker Tools’ free freight market report for owner operators and trucking companies.

In the coming week, several major reefer markets are projected to remain red hot, while demand for flatbed capacity will continue to cool in multiple markets across the United States and Canada. Once again this week, Texarkana, Texas, is projected to be a hot spot for reefer freight, as it claims the number one spot in today’s Top Five Hottest Markets list followed by the Winnipeg, Manitoba, flatbed market at number two. Major industries in Winnipeg, Manitoba, include manufacturing, transportation and warehousing, and mining, all of which are likely driving demand for flatbed capacity in the region at this time of year. Over the next five to seven days, you also can expect demand and rates for power only capacity to increase for Salt Lake City and St. Cloud, Minn., while dry van demand is likely to surge to/from Macon, Ga., and Ithaca, N.Y.

Where Demand/Rates Will Be Highest or Rising This Week

  • Flatbed demand and rates for Winnipeg, Manitoba, are projected to be high.
  • Reefer demand and rates for Texarkana, Texas, Spokane, Wash., Macon, Ga., and Tucson, Ariz., are expected to be extremely high.
  • Power only demand and rates for Salt Lake City, New Castle, Del., and St. Cloud, Minn., are likely to rise.
  • Dry van demand and rates for Macon, Ga., and Ithaca, N.Y., are expected to increase.

Where Freight Demand/Rates Will Be Lowest or Falling This Week

  • Flatbed demand and rates for Yakima, Wash., will be very low. Flatbed demand to/from Ithaca, N.Y., is likely to decrease.
  • Reefer demand and rates for Billings, Mont., and Pittsburgh are expected to be low.
  • Power only demand and rates for Salt Lake City are projected to be extremely low. Demand for power only capacity to/from Tulsa, Okla., and Jackson, Miss., is expected to decline.
  • Dry van demand and rates for Calgary, Alberta, are likely to be very low. Dry van demand to/from Huntington, W.Va., is expected to decline.
