Five Must-Use Features in Trucker Tools’ Driver App

Share it:

As the number one downloaded app in the transportation industry, Trucker Tools’ free driver mobile app has everything you need when you’re on the road. From connecting you with loads from your favorite brokers to providing you with up to date information on parking, the Trucker Tools app has you covered. With diesel fuel and other goods’ prices recently hitting record highs, it’s more important than ever to run as efficiently as possible if you’re a driver. Reducing downtime, quickly finding the cheapest fuel, booking loads online and being able to easily access the information you need all can help improve your bottom line.

Check out these five must-use features in Trucker Tools’ driver app that can help keep those wheels turning and keep you earning.

1. Load Search/Book-It-Now®

If you’re like a lot of truckers, you use a combination of load boards and phone calls to get loads. While load boards and phones call do work for getting loads, they aren’t the most efficient way to find and book quality loads. The load search tool in Trucker Tools’ free driver app can help you find loads with your favorite brokers in a matter of seconds. You can search for loads by lane, dates, type of freight, nearby reloads and other factors. Once you find a load you like, you can send a rate quote to the broker right from within the app. If you see a Book-It-Now® load in the app, you can book the load immediately at the listed rate in the app with no follow-up required.

(You must request permission from brokers/3PLs to see their loads in Trucker Tools’ driver app. Trucker Tools does not set broker rates and does not charge any per load transaction fees.)

2. Routing & Fuel Optimizer

One of the most popular tools in the app is the Routing and Fuel Optimizer. Simply enter your starting point and destination and the app will find the cheapest stops for fuel all along your route. The optimizer also provides the approximate length of time it will take for you to reach your destination, as well as directions. The Routing and Fuel Optimizer is such a popular feature because it helps you plan ahead and keep your diesel fuel expenses to a minimum. Each fuel stop you see in the app includes the address, phone number and distance to the station, as well as the per gallon diesel fuel price and information on parking spots.

3. Load Tracking, Document Upload

The good news is that you have choices when it comes to load tracking for brokers. The Trucker Tools driver app and its Load Track tool integrate with most of the popular software platforms used by brokers, 3PLs and shippers today. That means that instead of downloading a new tracking app to your phone every time you pull a load with a new broker, you can keep one app on your phone (Trucker Tools’) and use it for all load tracking with all brokers. When you use the Load Track tool in Trucker Tools’ app, you must accept the request in order for tracking to start and you can always see who is receiving the location data. You also have the option to pause or cancel tracking from within the app. Once you deliver your load to its final destination, you can upload BOL and POD docs to the app and send them to the broker immediately, which can be a major time-saver.

4. Truck Stop Guide/Rest Area Finder

When you’re looking for a place to grab food, get some rest or just stretch your legs, there are two tools in the Trucker Tools app that can help you quickly find what you need. The Truck Stop Guide, which was one of the first features offered in the Trucker Tools app, locates all of the truck stops along your route. If you tap on a particular truck stop, you can see the truck stop’s name, address, distance from your current location, diesel prices, the number of diesel pumps and the number of truck parking spots at the truck stop. You also can view what amenities are available at the truck stop and how other truckers have rated it. The app’s Rest Area finder works similarly in helping you find rest areas. Each rest area that you see in your search results will include the location of the rest area and the number of parking spots at the rest area.

5. Parking

It’s no big secret that parking is a major problem within trucking. With this in mind, last year we added a new parking spot finder tool to the Trucker Tools app. Now you can search for and book paid parking through the app. Simply tap on the Parking button on the main screen, enter your destination or a specific location, and the app will locate available parking along your route or in a specific area. Each parking spot listed in the app will contain information about the parking facility, including details about on-site security, pricing and how to access the facility. You also can search for free public parking with the parking tool in the app.
