2022 recap and 2023 preview

It’s been a productive and eventful year for us here at Trucker Tools and as 2022 winds down, it’s the perfect time to take stock of the last 12 months and preview what the upcoming new year will hold. In 2022, we launched a number of new programs, features and tools for truckers, carriers and freight brokers and formed integration partnerships with leading technology companies across the transportation industry. All of our launches and new partnerships in 2022 have been centered on two primary goals: 1. to facilitate relationship-building between freight brokers like you and carriers/drivers and 2. to help you save time and reduce costs.

2022 In Review

This year was a big one on the product development front. We added several impactful new tools to drive greater efficiency, boost convenience and bring instant market insights to users of our platforms.

New Tools in Smart Capacity
In our Smart Capacity digital freight matching platform, we introduced a new Smart Negotiations feature that automates negotiations and counteroffers to save you time and drive more digital bookings. We refined our Carrier Lane Search tool to make it easier to tap into our enormous capacity network. In 2022, we also launched Smart Routes that you can use to automatically send loads in certain lanes to carriers who typically run in those lanes.

Nearly 100 ELD Integrations
Over the last 12 months, we’ve been hard at work expanding our ELD partnership network to nearly 100. Our ELD integration partnerships make it possible for drivers and carriers to use their preferred ELDs for load tracking. When a driver uses an integrated ELD for visibility, you can view the real-time location of the freight in our visibility platform just as you would a load tracked with the Trucker Tools app. Several of these newest ELD integrations — including those with Samsara, Motive and Verizon Connect — can be initiated with a single click. It’s worth noting that users of our real-time visibility platform who implement our best practices and use both ELD and app-based load tracking are typically able to reach tracking success rates above 90 percent.

New Driver Loyalty Program
In the latter half of 2022, we launched the industry’s first-of-its kind Driver Loyalty Program. This new program is designed to build loyalty among drivers by rewarding them for interacting with your company through Trucker Tools’ driver app. For drivers, the program offers free gift cards to more than 200 popular U.S. retailers at a time when operating expenses are high. As a broker or 3PL, you can use our innovative driver loyalty program to encourage drivers to digitize their communications with you to increase productivity and efficiency. What’s unique about our new loyalty program is that you can customize rewards for drivers based on your own operational needs and goals.

SONAR Rate Intelligence
This year, we also were excited to announce a new partnership with FreightWaves SONAR, the industry’s most trusted source of supply chain intelligence. This partnership brings real-time, real-world rate data to our Smart Capacity platform to help you accurately price freight and offer carriers competitive rates. Once you connect your SONAR account with Smart Capacity, you can view average, high and low rates for specific types of loads in specific lanes in Smart Capacity.

New TMS Integrations
This year, we continued to expand our TMS integration network. Our TMS integration partnerships let you view data from our Smart Capacity and real-time visibility platforms in your TMS. Our new TMS integration partners in 2022 included Tai, Turvo, Mastery/MasterMind, Revenova, Dr. Dispatch, EZ Loader and Freightflow.

2023 Sneak Peek

In the new year, you can expect to see us add to our ELD integration, TMS and other technology networks. We’ll also continue to grow and refine our Driver Loyalty Program to bring even more drivers onboard while making it easier for them to identify participating brokers.

Focus on Real-Time Visibility, ELD Integration
As we’ve seen markets shift and volumes decline in the latter half of 2022, it’s become clear that real-time freight visibility is more important than ever to shippers. Now that freight volumes have in many ways normalized to pre-pandemic levels, shippers are expected to make real-time freight visibility a major priority when evaluating partners in 2023. With this in mind, we will continue to expand our ELD integration network to drive higher tracking success rates with our visibility platform.

New Integration Partnerships
We understand that data sharing is an integral part of running a successful business. Sharing data across software platforms helps you make smarter decisions faster and better understand your operations. In 2023, we’ll continue to add to our robust TMS integration network and we’ll be adding some pretty big names to our broader integration partnership list, as well.
